Every year we democratically select one charity related to dentistry to support as a Dental Society
Atena Ahmed - Charities Officer This year Atena will be organising all the Dental Society charity activities. She is a current third year dental student who has previously been Head of Charity during her Sixth Form studies. As well as encouraging the Dental Institutue to partake in charity, she is also the 2018/2019 Press & Publicity Officer for SAMDA.
Nadine Amin - Charities Social Secretary This year Nadine will be organising lots of non-drinking events for charity. She is a current third year dental student who enjoys hosting fun charity events for everyone to get involved in and even runs her own dental blog!
We are pleased to announce the chosen charity that we will be supporting this year (2018/2019) is Tudos Juntos Children's Trust
our 2017/2018 fundraising
Here is a list of some of the activities we organised/took part in to raise money for DentAid:
Thrift Shop Car Boot Sale
Central London Money Collections
Sponsored Head Shaves
Sky Dives at 15,000ft
5k/10k Fun Runs
We recently recruited out Dental Society Charity Squad, which is a group of dental students across all five years and together they will be working alongside Aniqah to organise all our charitable activities for the year. Pictured here is most of the squad.
HELPING the homeless
There are unfortunately some less fortunate and homeless people in our local area of East London. Twice termly, our year reps will do a money collection from all students in each cohort and we will donate this money to the homeless people in Whitechapel in the form of money, food+drinks and blankets.
It is a small gesture but as a Dental Society we want to try and help in some way.
As a university, we also have a connection with charities such as Shelter and the Whitechapel Mission which some of our students support, such as through Homeless Kitchen initiatives on Sunday mornings.
